My Story

I started in the financial planning profession as an intern in 2005. I am passionate about helping people through the professional practice of financial planning and through research. I have enjoyed staying connected to the profession while working in academia. I was on faculty in the financial planning program at Kansas State University for 9 years and currently serve as the Ph.D. program director in the School of Financial Planning at Texas Tech University. You can read more about my background, research, and academic roles here.

My wife, Heidi, and I were high school sweethearts and have seven children. We are active members of the Village, a community of house churches based in Manhattan, KS. I enjoy reading, camping, and being outside.
